According to Article 16 of the second item of the Classification Criteria for Foreigners to Work in China (for Trial Implementation) of the Notice on the Full Implementation of the Permit System for Foreigners to Work in China (No. 40 [2017]), foreign high-end talents (Category A), the top eight finishers in the Olympic Games or the World Cup and World Championships of the last two included Olympic sports and the top three finishers in the Asian Games or the Asian Cup and Asian Championships of the last two included Asian Games sports Prominent athletes, head coaches or core members of the coaching staff responsible for their development. Let's take a look at what sports have been or will be added to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and three years later to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

1 Tokyo Olympics adds skateboarding, Surfing, Sport Climbing and Karate

New to the Tokyo Olympics, four major events, including Skateboarding, Surfing, Sport Climbing and Karate, are making their Olympic debut. The main purpose of adding these sports is to attract more young people to participate and to increase the vitality of the Olympic Games.东京奥运会新设了，滑板、冲浪、竞技攀岩、空手道等四个大项首次亮相奥运会。增加这些项目的主旨是为吸引更多年轻人参与，提升奥运赛事活力。

Skateboarding, Sport Climbing and Surfing have a strong 'youthful' and 'fashionable' stigma and are highly sought after by young people. Tokyo Olympics in 2020.  These sports  are all making their Olympic debut.

滑板、竞技攀岩、冲浪均有深刻的“年轻”“时尚”烙印，受年轻人追捧。2016年8月，国际奥委会全会表决通过，滑板、冲浪、竞技攀岩、空手道、棒垒球等5个大项进入2020年东京奥运会。其中前四项都是首次亮相奥运会。

Skateboarding at the Tokyo Olympics is divided into Park and Street courses , with four gold medals.  Sport Climbing will have two gold medals for men and women in the all-around. Competitors will feature three disciplines: Speed, Bouldering and Lead to determine the winner. Surfing will have 2 gold medals. The Chinese surfing team has made great strides in recent years, but unfortunately the team did not qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. Karate is a new sport with more gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics, with a total of 8 gold medals to be won. The Japanese team has an advantage in this event.

东京奥运会滑板比赛分为碗池、街式小项，产生4枚金牌。竞技攀岩设男、女全能2枚金牌。参赛选手将参加速度、抱石、难度三项比拼，决出冠军。冲浪比赛共产生2枚金牌。中国冲浪队近年取得长足进步，不过遗憾的是，此次东京奥运会中国冲浪队未获得参赛资格。空手道是东京奥运会新项目中的金牌大户，将一共产生8枚金牌。日本队在这一项目具有一定优势。

2 Breakdancing event added to Paris Olympics

2 巴黎奥运会新增霹雳舞项目

On December 8, 2020 Beijing time, the IOC held its Executive Committee and approved the competition programme and athletes' quota for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Breakdancing, Skateboarding, Sport Climbing and Surfing were officially confirmed as the four new major Sports for the Paris Games. The addition of breakdancing and the other three Sports is based on the recommendation of the Paris 2024 Organising Committee, with Skateboarding, Surfing and Sport Climbing all set to make their debuts at the Tokyo Games, while the Paris Games will mark the Olympic debut of breakdancing.

北京时间2020年12月8日，国际奥委会召开执委会，通过了2024年巴黎奥运会竞赛项目设置和运动员参赛配额。霹雳舞、滑板、攀岩和冲浪正式确认成为巴黎奥运会新增的四个大项。增加霹雳舞等4个大项是基于2024巴黎奥组委的推荐，其中滑板、冲浪和攀岩都将在东京奥运会上迎来首演，而巴黎奥运会将是霹雳舞在奥运会的首次亮相。

As can be seen from the addition of four major sports, the Paris Games have further expanded the concept of urban sports that are inclusive and attractive with a youth-centred focus and can be played outside of the regular venues. The Paris Organising Committee has confirmed that the venues for Skateboarding, Breakdancing and Sport Climbing will be located at Place de la Concorde in the heart of Paris, while the Surfing competition will be held on the small Pacific island of Tahiti, 15,000 kilometres away from the French mainland.

According to the Classification Criteria for Foreigners to Work in China (for Trial Implementation), renowned athletes, head coaches or core members of the coaching staff responsible for training, who have entered the top eight in the Olympic Games or the World Cup or World Championships of the last two included Olympic sports and the top three in the Asian Games, Asian Cup and Asian Championships, can be classified as foreign top talents (Category A).

根据《外国人来华工作分类标准（试行）》，奥运会或近两届列入奥运会项目的世界杯、世锦赛进入前八名和亚运会、亚洲杯、亚锦赛前三名的知名运动员、负责培养的主教练或教练组核心成员，可归入外国高端人才（A类）。

In other words, foreigners who are top eight finishers in the Tokyo Olympics in four sports - Skateboarding, Surfing, Sport Climbing and Karate - or top eight finishers in the World Cup or World Championships in five sports - Skateboarding, Surfing, Sport Climbing, Karate and Breakdancing - or top three athletes or core members of the head coach or coaching team in the Asian Games, Asian Cup or Asian Championships, can be newly classified as foreign top talents (Category A) if they come to work in China.

也就是说滑板、冲浪、竞技攀岩、空手道这四个项目东京奥运会前八名或滑板、冲浪、竞技攀岩、空手道、霹雳舞这五个项目的世界杯、世锦赛的前八名、亚运会、亚洲杯、亚锦赛前三名的运动员或主教练、教练组核心成员的外国人如来华工作，可新增归入外国高端人才（A类）。

4 What non-Olympic sports at the Asian Games can also be classified as Category A foreign top talents?

According to the official News of the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou has increased the number of competition events to 37, with nine non-Olympic sports in addition to the 28 Olympic sports: Wushu, Sepak Takraw, Kurash, Jujitsu, Cricket, Chess, Roller Skating, Kabadi and Squash. According to the "Classification Criteria for Foreigners to Work in China (for Trial Implementation)", the top three well-known athletes in the Asian Cup and Asian Championships, the head coach or core members of the coaching team responsible for training in the Asian Games or the last two Asian Games, in other words, if the top three athletes of the Asian Cup and Asian Championships of Wushu, Sepak Takraw, Kurash, Jujitsu, Cricket, Chess, Roller Skating, Kabadi and Squash as well as the foreigners responsible for training the head coach or core members of the coaching team come to work in China, they can also be classified as foreign high-end talents (Class A).

根据杭州亚组委官方微博消息，2022年杭州亚运会已经确定竞赛大项增至37个， 除了28个奥运项目外还有武术、藤球、克柔术、柔术、板球、棋类、轮滑、卡巴迪、壁球9个非奥项目。根据《外国人来华工作分类标准（试行）》，亚运会或近两届列入亚运会项目的亚洲杯、亚锦赛前三名的知名运动员、负责培养的主教练或教练组核心成员，也就是说武术、藤球、克柔术、柔术、板球、棋类、轮滑、卡巴迪、壁球这九项运动的亚洲杯、亚锦赛前三名的运动员和负责培养的主教练或教练组核心成员的外国人如果来华工作，也可归入外国高端人才（A类）。
